What if you knew deep down in your soul that everything was going to be okay? How could a certainty that you are whole, complete, protected, and it really is “all good”, change your life?
I have many clients come to me during difficult times in their lives, and they just want to know that everything is going to be okay. Heck, I remember one time years ago sitting in my doctor’s office discussing how I couldn’t sleep, and I specifically remember telling my doctor that I know I would able to go to sleep at night if I just knew everything was going to be okay…
I have good news and bad news. The good news is everything is definitely going to be okay. The bad news is it is hard to convince yourself of this at times. But more good news, I am going to offer a simple technique today that will help you to know deep in your bones and soul that it is all good.

First, it is important to look at what we do that cultivates the feeling of fear and the the thought that everything is NOT okay. (Remember a feeling is one word vibration in your body – fear. A thought is a sentence – “Everything is not okay”. The thought “Everything is not okay” causes the feeling – fear). Sometimes when we have this underlying fear and thought that everything is not okay, we unknowingly do things that make it worse.
Sometimes we even think these things will make the fear go away. For instance, we might jam pack our schedules with a million things to do in order to distract us from our fears, or because we think being super productive will make us feel better. We might rush from one activity to the other trying to get it all done. We might try being everything to everyone. We might try fixing everything around the house. We might try googling the answers to our problems.
Anything done in that frantic, rushed energy is not going to help us know that everything is going to be okay. Because once we stop, the fear is still there. We haven’t resolved it.
Remember our brains want to keep us feeling the way we are already feeling. In the field of psychology, they call it “opposite action”, doing the opposite of how you feel in order to feel differently. So if we are feeling anxious and fearful, our brains will tell us to keep doing things that keep us anxious and fearful. In order to break the cycle, we have to do the opposite.
Probably about a year ago I started sleeping with my phone in another room. The problem was I would lay in bed and then feel the need to go on my phone to either look something up or write something down that I had to do the following day. The purpose of the phone in the other room was to help convince myself that the world would still go on if I didn’t look up or write down whatever felt so important at the moment. The feeling of having to check something or do something would pass, and yes, everything is still all good. It took a couple minutes, but eventually those frantic feelings went away as long as I did not keep them going by doing what my nervous mind was telling me to do (for example, go check my phone. That always made it worse in the long run.) And yes, sleeping with my phone in the other room lowered my anxious feelings and helped me to sleep better knowing everything is good.
What did I do instead of go check my phone? I breathed.
It really is that simple. Breathe.
We tend to breathe to survive not to thrive.
When we take the time to breathe, everything slows down, and we develop inner knowing that everything is going to be okay.
Warning, your mind and body will NOT want to let you breathe when you are feeling nervous or worried. You must stop and do it intentionally.
When we get nervous we start taking short shallow chest breaths. Those short shallow breaths make us feel more nervous, and the cycle continues. You cannot convince yourself that everything is going to be okay by taking short shallow breaths.
You must breeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaathe. Slow it down.
Here are the steps. (Get your favorite essential oil for an added benefit if you have one).
- Put one hand on your chest and one hand on your stomach. When you breathe, you want to breathe into your stomach. The hand on your chest should stay still while the hand on your stomach should go out.
- Breathe in for four counts….1, 2, 3, 4. Hold for six counts…1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6. Breathe out for eight counts…1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8.
- Repeat 10 times.
- Then continue your breathing deep and slow. Put some drops of essnetial oil on your hand or wrist and smell as you breathe in.
- Breathe in — I. Breathe out – Trust
- Continue with your breath “I trust”. You can do this anywhere and as long as you need.
Heaven. What we are doing is aligning you with the voice of God. That voice will always tell you that everything is okay. It is time to develop this knowing deep within yourself, because that is from where it needs to come. I arew up as a very anxious kids. My parents always told me everything was okay, but I did not believe them. I had to believe it myself. This knowing can only come from within and with the help of a higher power. This is true healing.
My favorite essential oil scent to use for this exercise is Clary Sage. According to the book Emotions and Essential Oils – A Reference Guide for Emotional Healing (7th edition by Essential Emotions, LLC), “Clary Sage assists in opening creative channels and clearing creative blocks. It eliminates distractions from the mind and assists individuals in finding a state of emptiness where creative forces may be realized.” It also says “Clary Sage invites individuals to expend their vision and accept the reality of the spiritual world.”

How amazing is that? Spiritual vision is the really only truth there is, and that truth is that everything is perfect as it is, and everything will always be okay (even when skies appear cloudy, which I love by the way). Oh and by the way, what proof do we have that everything is going to be okay? The proof is that it always has been okay, and it still is okay. We are still here!
I think July is a good time to do less, take a break. Make doing less each day a priority. Pick 2-3 things that you want to get done in the day, and make sure you leave room for intuition and feeling good. By not jam packing your day with a million things to do, you are teaching yourself to slow down and cultivate a knowing that everything is going to be okay.
Don’t rush. Slow down. Do the exercise I suggest. And know within your soul that it’s all good!
