Psychiatrist and founder of Gestalt Therapy, Fritz Perls, coined the term “unfinished business” to refer to emotionally significant events in our lives with which we have not dealt.

According to beyondhalfway.com, “Perls felt that, as unfinished business stacks up, it goes to block our way forward.  We may become habitually depressed, anxious, angry, or hopeless without awareness of the unfinished business that’s responsible.”

Perls said that we actually held this unfinished business in our bodies without knowing we are doing it.  When unfinished business builds up, it causes depression, and we might not even know why.

I want you to think of “unfinished business” not only as emotionally significant events in your life, but as any little tasks that are building up.

We all know what it feels like to put off a phone call that we are dreading for days only to do it and find out it took two minutes and was so easy!  We feel so relieved that it is done and wonder why we made ourselves miserable about it for days.

That, my friend, is taking care of unfinished business.

It could be:

  • A phone call that needs to be made.
  • A conversation that needs to be had.
  • A bill that needs to be paid.
  • A payment that needs to be collected.
  • A random drawer of crap that ends to be cleaned out and thrown away.

All these tasks are sucking energy out of you, wether you know it or not.  Picture 100’s of little energetic cords coming out of your body attached to each little unfinished business you have.  These cords are sucking energy from your life force.  Too many of them will cause depression.

What is so interesting to me is that we don’t realize it.  Hence, the free feeling we have AFTER that call has been made.  If we realized we were going to feel that free, we would have done it days ago.

But now you know, and you can free yourself.

Pick five unfinished business tasks that you can free yourself of this week and let me know how you feel!

I want you to take care of unfinished business for a reason.  I am so excited for what is coming, I can barely stand it!  I am opening up applications for 5 private coaching spots one-on-one with me next week.  I will be looking for five amazing women or men who are ready to take their lives to the next level!  I want you ready.  Clean it up.  Take care of your unfinished business!  And I will meet you here next week!
